Krug, a West Chester architect known for his work in sustainable design, has been named a Fellow of the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE). Recognized for “having made significant contributions to the energy management and alternative energy industry,” he was one of 10 professionals worldwide honored with fellowship at the World Energy Engineering Congress in Atlanta.

The AEE is a nonprofit professional society of more than 18,000 members in more than 100 countries. Its mission is to promote the scientific and educational interests of those engaged in the energy industry and to foster action for sustainable development.

“I am delighted to join this distinguished group, and grateful that the AEE recognizes my efforts to advance programs supporting healthy, vibrant, high-performance buildings, sustainable design, and other issues that affect our future,” said Krug.

Krug is also the chair of the Climate Change Advisory Committee, an appointed group of business leaders that advises the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection on energy-efficiency initiatives.

Job Fair

The Downingtown-Thorndale Regional Chamber of Commerce is partnering with Pepperidge Farm and Task Management, Inc. to bring quality jobs to the region.

A job fair, hosted by the Chamber of Commerce, will be held on Wednesday, March 14 from 9 AM-3 PM at its office, located at 216 East Lancaster Avenue in Downingtown. The Chamber office is located in the Dane Décor building.

Downingtown’s Pepperidge Farm location needs to fill about 40 to 50 positions for first and second shift plant production, along with third shift sanitation.

Preferred candidates will have experience in the areas of food production, conveyer belt, machine operations/machine cleaning, blending, lifting, mixing, food tech, or general warehouse or sanitation. Those without experience are also encouraged to apply.

AmpTech

AmpTech, a technology incubator and commercialization center in Malvern, is joining with BioStrategy Partners, a consortium of Pennsylvania academic centers and research institutions, to form an innovative network and functional ecosystem that offers research centers and institutions in Pennsylvania a unique program that will increase speed to market of technological devices.

The program uses a process designed to enhance early-stage intellectual property.

The partnership revolves around AmpTech’s 20,000-square-foot building, which houses an infrastructure of scientific, engineering, and business capabilities with real-world expertise applied to this new germinator program. The program provides AmpTech with an exclusive option to develop new technologies that emerge from the partnership that will enable new company formation.

Matt Eick

Longwood Fire Company

Matt Eick, a 16-year veteran of Emergency Medical Services, is the new Captain of EMS. He began his duties in February.

“Matt is a valued and experienced member of Longwood,” said Chief A.J. McCarthy. “He is certainly the right person to lead our EMS component.”

Eick began his EMS career in 2002 and became an Emergency Medical Technician in 2003 and a Paramedic in 2008.
