Heartwarming Video Shows Local Army Officer Surprising His Daughter at Father-Daughter Dance

Jasmine Vega thought she wouldn’t have a date for Archbishop Carroll High School’s father-daughter dance, but her dad had other ideas, writes Stephanie Farr for the Philadelphia Inquirer.

U.S. Army Warrant Officer Wally Vega is stationed in Texas, but he flew in to surprise his daughter at the recent dance.

Jasmine, who had decided to go to the dance after all, led a prayer with Rev. Mike Speziale before the other attendees.

After the pair completed the prayer, Speziale said that the following day was Veterans Day and asked if anybody present had family members in the military. Jasmine, very proud of her father who has served in Afghanistan, immediately raised her hand.

Speziale then asked everybody to pray for those who serve in the military, and as if having her prayer instantly answered, Jasmine saw her father walk into the room carrying a single rose.

The room erupted in applause.

The pair then shared the first dance to the song “Home.”
