Chester County Historical Society’s Holiday & Greens Sale a Volunteer-Driven Fundraiser

By

The Chester County Historical Society’s Holiday & Greens Sale is a popular fundraiser scheduled for Dec. 8 and 9.

The Chester County Historical Society’s Holiday & Greens Sale is one of the county’s finest traditions.

Scheduled for Friday, Dec. 8 from 9:30 AM-8 PM and Saturday, Dec. 9 from 9:30 AM-2 PM, the Holiday & Greens Sale offers a stunning array of beautiful and affordable handcrafted wreaths, floral arrangements, ornaments, garland, and more, all handcrafted by the talented volunteers on the CCHS’s Holiday & Greens Sale committee.

Also available are greens and holly in generous bags for the do-it-yourselfer.

To complement the event, delicious, holiday baked goods and luminaria kits for outdoor decoration are available for purchase. The Luminaria Sale has already begun and will be ongoing.

“The Holiday & Greens Sale dates back at least 30 years, but went on a 10-year hiatus because we couldn’t get space donated to us for the volunteers who make the greens,” said Susan Johnstone, President of CCHS’s Volunteers. “But we were able to find some low-cost space at a strip mall in East Bradford, and this is our second year back.

“Last year, we had to start over from Ground Zero, and had a successful sale. This year, we hope to have even greater success.”

All proceeds from this event will support the CCHS mission – to inspire, inform, and build community identity by preserving and sharing the remarkable story of Chester County and its people. CCHS members receive a discount.

Admission is free to both the Holiday & Greens Sale and the CCHS Museum and Genealogy Library on Dec. 8 and 9. The sale will be at the CCHS, located at 225 North High Street in West Chester.

A luminaria is a Christmas lantern consisting of a votive candle set in a small paper bag, weighted and typically placed with others along a driveway or sidewalk as a holiday decoration. Click here to order.
