YMCA’s Corporate Memberships a Boon for All Involved

The science behind it is unavoidable, and the benefits continue to pile up.

In recent years, more and more companies have opted to add corporate wellness benefits for their employees with staggering results. Healthy employees are said to be up to three times as productive as those in poor health.

That type of thinking is what led the YMCA of Greater Brandywine to offer corporate memberships to businesses in Chester County. The YMCA’s partnerships with multiple Chester County organizations and corporations allow those companies’ employees to receive discounted YMCA memberships. The employees receive a 10 percent discount on their monthly YMCA membership dues, in addition to having the joiner fee waived. They can also visit any YMCA in Pennsylvania or Delaware and even, as nationwide YMCA membership is soon rolled out, anywhere in the country.

Multiple studies confirm that wellness plans boost productivity, employee morale, and employee retention rates. Studies have shown that wellness plans reduce illness, injury, and healthcare costs, and healthy employees are less likely to quit, use fewer sick days, and show a significant return on investment with these plans.

The YMCA of Greater Brandywine’s branches recently completed Enhancement Week, a week that each branch location dedicates to facility upgrades. Nearly 100 new pieces of cardio equipment have been installed across the branches, along with the completion of numerous renovations. The result is cleanliness and amenities that are hard to beat.

“We are very happy that we became members,” said Julia Hild, who parlayed her corporate membership into one for her family. “It’s a place where our entire family enjoys spending time. Since Enhancement Week, the facility looks even better. You can tell that a lot of time and care were put into this project. My husband and I love the variety of newer equipment in the Fitness Center, my children love the playground area, and we all enjoy swimming in the pool.

“For us, going to the YMCA is a family event.”

For more information about how your company can offer corporate memberships to employees, contact Sharon Crosby at scrosby@ymcagbw.org. Companies with 10 employees or more who join the YMCA are eligible, and there is no fee to the corporation. Also, the Y supplies all needed materials to let employees know of this added company benefit.
