QVC host David Venable believes he has the greatest job in the world, writes Fabiola Cineas for Philadelphia magazine.

The celebrity foodie is the star of In the Kitchen with David, which has transformed kitchenware home shopping. So much so, that Venable once managed to sell more than $250 million worth of cookware in a single year.

Venable began his television career on the news before joining the West Chester-based shopping giant nearly a quarter-century ago. Over the years, he has learned that the most important skill is to be yourself in front of the camera.

“When you work in live TV that is unscripted, with no teleprompters or cue cards, it’s important to let people see the real you and get to know you,” he said.

One of the many things that keep him on his toes are the changes in shopping trends, which has prompted Venable to become more active on social media.

“In the last six months, I’ve been more active on Instagram,” he said. “It’s a fun way to stay connected.”
