“The first million is always the hardest but we’re getting there!” laughed Brian Polizzi.

He and his wife Andrea, co-owners of Waffatopia, have recently discovered new wind beneath their wings, courtesy of entrepreneurial-minded First Resource Bank, which has branches in Exton and West Chester.

Waffatopia began four years ago in West Chester, where the Polizzis made their scratch, Liege-style waffles and sold them at farmers’ markets and other local events. The birth of their e-commerce website in 2014, along with a spot on the Food Network’s Great American Food Finds provided the foundation that Waffatopia needed to expand to Conshohocken, and take things to the next level in 2017.

“Our Waffatopian base across the U.S. is fiercely loyal and growing,” said Andrea. “But like many businesses, after being nearly all self-funded for the first few years, we needed a partner to help us get to the next level of accelerated operations, marketing, and sales growth.

“We needed a bank that shared our vision for this staged growth, with an aggressive spirit that can be hard to find in larger funding partners.”

First Resource fit the bill perfectly, as President Glenn Marshall and his team were as excited as the Polizzis were about their growth plans.

“We are thrilled to be able to help such a wonderful couple take the next step toward fulfilling their American Dream,” said Marshall. “As community bankers, we love getting involved in these types of scenarios. They are fabulous people, and the waffles are even better!”

“The next 24 months are going to be beyond fun,” said Brian. “Fueled by our new banking relationship, our newest Waffatopia.com site and our growing team, Waffatopia remains focused in delivering the best in customer experience and one of the most unique, artisan-made products in the U.S.

“We can’t wait for you to see what’s next.”
