There is light at the end of the tunnel for commuters in western Chester County who often suffer from long delays on the congested Route 30 Bypass, writes Brian McCullough for the Daily Local News.

One of the highlights of last week’s 16th annual Western Chester County Chamber of Commerce Municipal Luncheon was an update on plans to improve this key route. Officials gave news of developments in their areas, while Michelle Kichline, Chair of the Chester County Commissioners, presented a list of almost 200 ongoing and upcoming projects.

“We’ve been focusing on the urban areas in western Chester County for a number of years through our Community Revitalization Program,” said Kichline. “All of the investment is tipping the scales in the right direction for the city of Coatesville and western Chester County.”

Eugene J. Blaum, assistant to the district executive for District 6 at the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, also described more details on the upcoming $800 million reconstruction and improvements to 14 miles of the Route 30 Bypass. These had been stalled, but are now actively moving forward.
