Southern Chester County Chamber of Commerce
The Southern Chester County Chamber of Commerce will hold its Annual Inspirational Breakfast on Thursday, May 4 at 7:30 AM at Hartefeld National Golf Club. The keynote speaker is Amanda McGrory, award-winning wheelchair athlete who will present Go for the Gold: My Quest for Success, which shares her story and discovery of wheelchair athletics, and highlights from her award-winning athletic career that has taken her around the world.
The Inspirational Breakfast welcomes business and community leaders from across the region. The fee is $45 for members and $55 for non-members. Visionary Tables are available for $375. To register, click here.
McGrory graduated from Unionville High School with honors, and accepted an athletics scholarship to the University of Illinois as a dual sport athlete to play wheelchair basketball. Since graduating with a degree in psychology, she has traveled the world, and won seven Paralympic medals and more than 25 marathons.
Friends Association for Care and Protection of Children
As part of National Volunteer Appreciation Month, the West Chester-based Friends Association for Care and Protection of Children will be recognizing volunteers who go above and beyond in their service to the organization.
A total of 38 individuals and nine businesses or organizations will be honored at the third annual Friends Association Volunteer Service Awards on Friday, from 5:30-6:30 PM at West Chester Borough Council Chambers on 401 East Gay Street. Wayne’s Teleflex, a leading global provider of medical technologies for critical care and surgery, has announced its launch of the AsthmaMDTM Peak Flow Meter designed to help asthma patients to track and measure lung performance.
The AsthmaMDTM Peak Flow Meter was developed for use with the AsthmaMDTM smartphone app, which helps patients digitally log peak flow meter readings, track symptoms, medications, and notes – empowering patients to create a digital journal of their asthma activity.

Siemens Healthineers, which employs more than 1,000 people in Malvern, has agreed to buy Medicalis Corp. – a healthcare technology company based in San Francisco and Kitchener, Ontario – for an undisclosed price, writes Harold Brubaker for the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Medicalis is expected to add to Siemens’s services in population health management, a term used to describe the practice of keeping track of patients when they’re not in the clinic.
DePuy Synthes
West Chester’s DePuy Synthes Products, part of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies, has acquired 3D printing technology from Tissue Regeneration Systems (TRS). Financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.
The acquisition from TRS brings exciting new technology with the potential to truly personalize healthcare solutions in Trauma, a priority platform for the business, and builds on DePuy Synthes’ leadership in delivering ground-breaking innovation that improves patients’ lives.
“We are systematically investing in building a pipeline of 3D printed products,” said Ciro Römer, Company Group Chairman, DePuy Synthes. “The TRS technology, which will be added to the DePuy Synthes Trauma Platform, is the latest example of how we are working toward developing next-generation technologies that transform healthcare delivery with individualized solutions for patients.”
