Third-Generation Curler and Olympic Hopeful from Berwyn: ‘I Plan to Curl Until I Die’
The grandson of Philadelphia Curling Club founders is making the family proud, and carrying on a three-generation legacy as a junior team member of the Paoli organization, as well as curling club president at the University of Pennsylvania.
Cody Clouser of Berwyn got his start in the sport at the age of 3, first competed at age 10, and is a current national champion and Olympic hopeful for the 2022 Games in Beijing, according to a Penn feature by Jill DiSanto.
“I plan to curl until I die,” he said.
And his rich background in curling is paying big dividends on the ice.
“Because most college curlers are newer to the sport, they are usually taught by older team members who may have only been curling for a few years,” Clouser said. “Strategy is something that you learn over many years, and the strategy I know is an advantage I provide for Penn’s club.”
The junior with a mind for mechanical engineering plans to curl two additional years at Penn, while he earns a master’s degree.
