scte_logoThe Exton-based Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers is launching a new campaign to gather a fund of $10 million or more for educational, training, and diversity initiatives that can be sustainable for the future.

The #BuildingExperts campaign is trying to raise more than $7 million in new donations over the next three years to complement the $2.6 million the foundation already has on hand.

Once this is reached, the foundation is hoping to fund grants directly from investment income. These would further the foundation’s mission of increasing workforce skills, as well as supporting growth of cable engineering careers for women, minorities, and young people.

The new campaign has already received significant industry support, with Advance/Newhouse’s Nomi Bergman and Cisco’s Yvette Kanouff spearheading its efforts to secure large corporate and individual donors. Additionally, Broadband Advisors Group’s Keith Hayes is leading the grassroots contribution campaign.

“As an educational resource for current and future technical professionals, the SCTE Foundation seeks to play an important role in deepening and diversifying our industry’s talent pipeline,” said Mark Hess, the Senior Vice President of Business and Industry Affairs for Comcast and President/Chairman of the SCTE Foundation.
