Find Out Which Local Communities Donated the Most to Clinton’s, Trump’s Campaigns
In the race to win the White House this year, Hillary Clinton has drawn a dozen times more money into her campaign coffers than Donald Trump from suburban Philadelphia donors.
Through Sept. 1, Clinton had accumulated $2.4 million across Philly while Trump, whose strategy has focused on free media and who hasn’t asked much from supporters until recently, had collected just $198,705. Those sums represent a maximum gift of $2,700 per person, per the rules of federal elections, according to a Philadelphia Business Journal report by Jeff Blumenthal.
“The Clintons have had a network since 1992. In Philadelphia, she has a tremendous support base,” said Terry Madonna, Director of the Franklin and Marshall College Center for Politics and Public Affairs. “Not only is her son-in-law from Montgomery County, but she has built relationships in the business and legal communities over the past 30 years.”
Topping Clinton’s list of most supportive local communities is Wynnewood at $103,738, followed by:
- Bryn Mawr ($85,418)
- Haverford ($78,265)
- Newtown ($75,684)
- Malvern ($72,438)
- Villanova ($69,962)
- Bethlehem ($69,288)
- Merion Station ($67,154)
- Wayne ($60,829)
- Gladwyne ($54,115)
- Bala Cynwyd ($47,160)
- Yardley ($44,278)
- West Chester ($40,121)
- Huntingdon Valley ($37,788)
- Newtown Square ($36,594)
- New Hope ($35,668)
- Penn Valley ($34,596)
- Ambler ($33,938)
- Lafayette Hill ($33,365)
- Media ($31,458).
Trump has found the most financial support from West Chester, which has contributed $14,149. Next in line is:
- Haverford ($11,861)
- Wynnewood ($11,700)
- Fort Washington ($11,016)
- Wayne ($10,487)
- Doylestown ($8,905)
- Downingtown ($7,963)
- Newtown Square ($7,124)
- Wyomissing ($6,500)
- Kennett Square ($6,426).
The greatest difference in financial support for the two presidential campaigns can be found in Philadelphia, where residents of the city gave $13,228 in support of the Trump campaign versus $1,095,458 to Hillary Clinton’s bid for the presidency.
