schuylkillDuring its seventh annual Heritage Award Celebration, Phoenixville’s Schuylkill River Heritage Center honored Mary Foote, the executive director of the historic Colonial Theatre, with “A Night at the Movies” special ceremony at The Foundry Building, writes Eric Devlin for Daily Local News.

Foote, who has been the theatre’s executive director for 17 years, has worked with volunteers to transform the theatre into a gathering place for people of all ages.

As part of its numerous live programs, the Colonial Theatre has entertained audiences with a fall concert series and a children’s theatre program in the summer. These combine the classic, independent, cult, art, and children’s films that are regularly featured at the theatre.

During the celebratory dinner, Greg Hytha’s band, Rhythm & Blondes, provided special-themed live music while Jim Batty’s group, Events That Entertain, screened snippets from well-known movies.

The event’s proceeds will help provide upgrades to the Schuylkill River Heritage Center’s interactive kiosks to further enhance the experience of visitors.
