Interim WCU President Spotlights School’s Bright Future in Unorthodox Annual State of the University Address

The collective voices of West Chester University have spoken, providing a look deep into the heart of the campus while it continues to search for its next leader.

And the unorthodox collection of feedback, gleaned from students and faculty members over lunch, dinner and late-night snacks, has formed this year’s State of the University Address.

The recent presentation provided a pause from years of success to evaluate what’s been going right at WCU and what can become better.

From changes as simple as a new lactation room to those as complex as new Accelerated Bachelor’s to Master’s programs, and as routine as continued refinements to the Advanced Development Program to those as urgent as the Green Dot initiative, WCU’s innovations are keeping pace with its growth.

“We have had huge growth. We’ve had about 20 percent enrollment increase in the past five years,” WCU Interim President Chris Fiorentino said.

“We have hired 300 new tenure-track faculty in the last six years. We have brought in outstanding faculty and thus continued to provide quality education without missing a beat.”
