Voter Services Asks Businesses to Give Employees Day off to Work Precincts on Election Day
Chester County Voter Services has launched the Professional Civic Partnership Program. Its goal is to boost the number of volunteers from the business community who can help out as poll workers during upcoming elections, including the presidential election in November.
Chester County has 228 precincts that need to be manned on election days. Under the program, the County is calling on local businesses to allow staff time off to help at poll stations without using a vacation day.
“This is a great way to show your support and commitment to the democratic process here in Chester County,” wrote Guy Ciarrocchi, President and CEO of the CCCBI to chamber leaders.
CC Voter Services has been struggling in recent years to find enough volunteers for this critical task. As a result, this initiative has been created as part of the Chester County’s first Leadership Development program to try and improve the situation.
“We look forward to working with the business community in this public-private partnership and are confident that the program will result in a great boost to the team of Election Day volunteers,” said County Commissioner, Kathi Cozzone.
Companies interested in being a part of the program should contact Chester County Voter Services on 610-344-6410 or email ccelectionofficials@checo.org.
