The Chester County DES was honored at the 4th annual Chester County Heroes Breakfast held by the Tri-County Chapter of the American Red Cross on June 30th.

During the fourth annual Chester County Heroes Breakfast on June 30th, the Chester County Department of Emergency Services was honored with the 2016 Red Cross Chester County Heroes Award by the Tri-County Chapter of the American Red Cross.

The Chester County Heroes Breakfast was established to celebrate heroes who display courage and compassion while exemplifying the mission and qualities of the American Red Cross.

Chester County Commissioners, Terence Farrell, Kathi Cozzone, and Michelle Kichline presented the award on behalf of State Senator, Andrew Dinniman, and U.S. Congressman, Ryan Costello, during the event at the Desmond Hotel in Malvern on Thursday.

This year’s award was in recognition of the DES’s outstanding performance in three key areas: long term recovery, care for pets, and exceptional leadership in preparedness. Robert Kagel, Director of the Chester County Department of Emergency Services, was present to accept the award on the behalf of the Department.

“The American Red Cross is honored to recognize the strong partnership that we have with Chester County DES,” said Adrian Grieve, Executive Director of the Tri-County Chapter. “It is through partnerships such as this that we are able to make our community a better place to live and work.”
