TCHS Pennock’s Bridge Community Day Raises Thousands for Scholarship Fund

By

TCHS Pennock’s Bridge Campus held its annual Community Day and 5K Tech Run on April 30th, raising nearly $13,000 for the student scholarship fund.

The Community Day portion of the event was free, open to all and included activities such as face painting, haircuts for Locks of Love, arts and crafts, and video games. Community members who completed five different activities were entered into a draw for the chance to win a $150 Dick’s Sporting Goods gift card.

TCHS Pennock’s Bridge also teamed up with local hospitals, healthcare providers, and healthy living experts to give people a chance to measure their blood pressure, get free health screenings, and have a look into the CCIU Practical Nursing Program.

“It was a really fun day that reminded us all what’s really important about being an active part of this community,” said Ryan Calpin, an active community member. “Our TCHS students are the hope for our workforce and supporting them is supporting the future.”

As part of the second Annual 5K Tech Run, participants had the option of either running a three-mile cross-country course or a one-mile Fun Run/Walk, with proceeds going to the TCHS Pennock’s Bridge student scholarship fund.

First place for the women’s/girl’s division went to Leah Sassaman while Matthew Sumner took the top spot in the men’s/boy’s division.

“We had close to 100 runners and 25 walkers and had hundreds of visitors tour our school, programs and grounds,” said Rachel Broadway, head planner, and TCHS Pennock’s Bridge receptionist. “Our guests not only came out for the race but they stayed for the day enjoying all of our fun activities.”
