Chester County launched its updated Hall of Heroes website that honors the sacrifices of county’s local military heroes in time for Memorial Day. The revamped site improves on the original website created fifteen years ago by providing better navigation on smart phones and tablets as well as on desktop and laptops computers.
Chester County’s Hall of Heroes website shares the stories of numerous Chester County’s military heroes whose names are on the Hall of Heroes memorial located in Chester County’s Historic Courthouse at 21 W. Market Street in West Chester.
The stories reflect the bravery of the servicemen and servicewomen who gave their ultimate sacrifice during World War II, the Korean and Vietnam Wars, and the War on Terror. The site also includes touching poems penned by friends and family of some of the fallen heroes featured on the wall.
“In addition to the many heroes’ stories that have been researched and told by family and friends, there are names etched in marble, but whose story and images have been lost across time,” said Lawrence Davidson, Chester County Director of Veterans Affairs.
“We welcome information from anyone who recognizes a name or two of soldiers listed on the Hall of Heroes website. Every Soldier, Sailor, Airmen, or Marine who gave the last full measure for our country has a story. Our duty is to ensure visitors have their story to reflect upon.”
