In an attempt to raise awareness and help educate the public on climate change, the Open Land Conservancy of Chester County will host its annual meeting on April 19th, with Richard Whiteford scheduled as the main speaker, writes Adam Farence for the Daily Local News.

Whiteford, a local resident and a prominent environmental issues speaker, will share his experiences from the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Paris with the members of the conservancy and the public. He has also said that he will focus on local issues of climate change, particularly the increased storm water management issues that places like Downingtown will face from the expected increase in the number of rainstorms.

The OLC takes care of more than 480 acres of land, the majority of which is located in Tredyffrin, through a combination of volunteer and contracted work. One of the conservancy members, Ray Clarke, commented that he hopes that Whiteford’s presentation will help bond the community with the conservancy and assist in de-bunking the naysayers.

The free to attend meeting will take place at the Great Valley Presbyterian Church off Swedesford Road stating at 7:30 p.m. and will focus on several key local issues and will also include a review of the work conducted by the conservancy over the last year.
