Restaurateur Sean Weinberg is leaving the homey and polished style of his Restaurant Alba in Malvern as he moves to Bryn Mawr to open a new eatery he describes as grungy and edgy, writes Michael Klein for Philly.com.

In just a few days, Weinberg’s new establishment, Biga Pizza + Beer, will open its doors to fans of good food and craft beer at 810 Glenbrook Avenue in Bryn Mawr.

Biga, which has been described as downtown meets the Main Line, specializes in delicious wood-fired pizzas prepared in a Renato 700 oven.

The new eatery will offer a variety pasta dishes as well as small plates and sandwiches for those in the mood for something other than pizza. The spot will also feature a range of craft beers on tap. Requests to fill growlers will be honored.

The kitchen is going to be under the command of Executive Chef Steve Fulmer, a former Alma sous-chef and avowed pizza nerd. The restaurant and bar will be open Monday to Saturday from lunchtime until late.
