Other metrics that affected a city’s rank were credit-card debt-to-income ratio, car-loan debt-to-income ratio, average percentage of credit used, and foreclosure rate.

With regard to WalletHub’s study, each metric was given a value between 0 and 100, wherein 100 is the best value and 0 is the worst. The overall score for each city was then calculated using the weighted average across all metrics.

The term “city” is used liberally throughout the study, as it refers not just to cities but also boroughs.

The Villages, Fla. has the highest credit score, while Camden, N.J. has the lowest. State College and Gettysburg are two of the top five cities with the highest student loan debt-to-income ratio, with 605.58 percent and 649.72 percent, respectively.
