A father’s and son’s new Mosquito Joe franchise is taking a swat at eradicating pests from Chester County backyards.

AR-160322209802A father-son duo is taking a swat at eradicating mosquitoes in Main Line backyards by bringing the state’s first Mosquito Joe franchise to Chester County — just in time for warmer outdoor weather.

Along with a handful of new hires for the May-to-September spraying season, Steve and Alex Rubin plan to sweep the Philly suburbs with a traditional Mosquito Joe chemical spray or an all-natural application that kills pesky mosquitoes on contact and repels them for weeks.

“There is nothing good about them,” Mosquito Joe Founder Kevin Wilson said in a Daily Local News report by Brian McCullough. “The only thing is that bats like to eat them. At best, they are a nuisance. At worst they are a carrier of disease. They are the No. 1 killer of human beings around the world.”

And while the rest of the world is increasingly worried about the Zika virus, Chester County residents should be more concerned about mosquito-spread West Nile virus and tick-borne Lyme Disease.

“We’ve never based our service on fear,” Wilson said in the article. “People just want to get out and enjoy their backyards, and that’s what we tell them, that they can enjoy the outside again.”
