County Commissioners Help Rally Women to Register to Vote

Chester County Commissioners Terence Farrell, Kathi Cozzone and Michelle Kichline with representatives from the “Your Vote is Your Voice! Empowered Women Vote” organization, along with Chester County employees, at the presentation of the Women’s History Month proclamation.

A coalition of Chester County leaders is amplifying the voice of women by rallying more of them to the ballot box, and the Chester County Commissioners joined the effort by proclaiming March as Women’s History Month.

The Your Vote Is Your Voice! Empowered Women Vote coalition has launched the non-partisan countywide campaign to increase voter registration in line with the dream of the millions of American women who first exercised their right to vote on election day in 1920.

Its goal of getting 9,000 local women registered to vote for the first time is beating paths to Chester County childcare centers, public housing facilities, food cupboards, houses of worship, universities, senior centers and shopping centers.

The coalition is composed of leaders from local social service agencies as well as faith-based, civic and social organizations.
