Bentley Announces Write-in Campaign for 158th GOP Nomination
Wasting no time, Unionville’s Perry Bentley announced his write-in campaign for the Republican nomination for State Representative in the 158th District on Tuesday, just a day after Lenny Rivera announced his withdrawal. In a letter to the Chester County Republican Committee members, Bentley said he is running to support the legacy of retiring State Rep. Chris Ross and to ensure that there is a Republican challenger for the seat.
Aclaris Therapeutics Acquires Male Hair Loss Treatment Company
Aclaris Therapeutics has agreed to acquire Vixen Pharmaceuticals as it moves ahead aggressively with its hair loss treatment business that aims to bring welcome relief to the two thirds of men who experience some amount of hair loss by age 35. Vixen Pharmaceuticals holds the intellectual property rights which cover the uses of certain JAK inhibitor compounds for the treatment of both male and female pattern baldness as well as other dermatological conditions.
Rapid Progress in Hazing Legislation
Proposed House Bill 1574, which will expand Pennsylvania’s anti-hazing laws to include high schools, made progress last week when the State Senate Education Committee not only approved the bill, but according to state Sen. Andy Dinniman, did so unanimously. The new anti-hazing legislation was introduced after an alleged hazing incident at Conestoga High School which highlighted an omission in the current legislation, as it currently only applies to universities and colleges.
Dave Haradon Receives Outstanding Citizen Award
The Southern Chester County Chamber of Commerce’s 49th annual banquet held on March 18th at Longwood Gardens honored Dave Haradon, the founding President of Family Promise of Southern Chester County, with its Outstanding Citizen award. Apart from his work with Family Promise, Haradon’s outstanding contributions to the community include his service for the Kennett Area YMCA Good Kid’s Fundraiser Committee and Historic Kennett Square as well as his upcoming induction as Southeastern Pennsylvania’s Rotary District Governor.
