Kennett Square based Pegasus Technologies has developed a new social media application that aims to connect users in person as it used to be, before the age of Facebook and Instagram writes Fran Maye for Kennett Paper, published on Southern Chester County News.

The company behind Match IT has recently released what it calls a hyper-local social media app named ‘Thinking About’. This new app makes it possible for users to locate people and events close to them and afterwards, gives them the opportunity to both share and rate their experience.

“It’s time to step out from behind the walls of a web page and into the real world again,” said Matt Tucker, the CEO of Pegasus Technologies. “Have a conversation about something you’re passionate about. Get to know someone, and let them get to know you. Fall in love. Thinking About will help you do exactly that by initiating the type of communication we have had for 200,000 years.”

Tucker sees many potential uses for the app in the future.

“Let’s say I wake up on Saturday morning and I wonder what to do with my kids,” he said. “I go to Thinking About and find there is a community fair going on in the middle of West Chester. And I find there are 500 people giving it the thumbs up, so it must be a cool fair.”

“Or I’m driving down the road and see that West Chester East cheerleading squad is having a carwash fundraiser,” continues Tucker. “I hashtag free car wash and it broadcasts it to everyone using the app within a set mile range.”

The app, which is defined by Tucker as “a social radar that will tell you what is going on and where it is going on in your local community, live, now and who is involved in it and the number of people,” is an ideal way for people to interact with each other in real time, and provides a platform for an open dialogue of opinions, unlike some other apps, Twitter included.

Thinking About can be downloaded from both the Itunes store and Google Play (search Thinkingabout), or directly from the applications site at www.thinkingabout.com.
