On December 28th, QVC announced that Mike Fitzharris has been appointed as the CEO and representative director of QVC Japan, and will report directly to Steve Hofmann, the President of QVC International. In his new position as the global leader for video and ecommerce retail, Fitzharris will be responsible for overseeing QVC’s operations and growth in Japan.

“Since its launch in 2001, QVC Japan has successfully developed and implemented strategies to become a leader in multimedia shopping, with a focus on providing great customer value and service,” commented Hofmann. “Mike has consistently demonstrated an ability to lead and inspire teams across cultures, and has the experience needed to drive customer loyalty, contribute to and execute enterprise strategy and build brand awareness.”

Fitzharris’ career at the West Chester based company began in 1997, where he worked in a number of different positions before taking on the role of General Manager of Operations Support. Prior to being appointed to his new position, Fitzharris was the Chief Operating Officer of QVC UK for the last three years, after rejoining QVC in April 2012. In that position his responsibility was Customer Fulfillment Services, which includes contact center operations, supply chain functions, warehousing and business intelligence.

Fitzharris is taking over from John Thomas, who successfully led QVC Japan for the past four years as the CEO and representative director and will remain as Chairman of the Board of Directors of QVC Japan. Thomas has also been appointed the Vice Chairman of CNR Mall, QVC’s joint venture operation with China National Radio in China.

“Throughout his tenure, John has maintained a clear focus on developing strategies to maximize our long-term position in Japan and in building an engaged and aligned team throughout the organization,” said Hofmann. “I am grateful to John for his tireless effort and countless contributions to the Japan business and will continue to rely on his expertise to drive our business forward as the chairman of QVC Japan.”
