iPipeline has come a long way from its first cramped Philadelphia office at 1818 Market Street that lacked, among other things, almost any ventilation. The company started the New Year by moving from its temporary space into new offices on the fourth floor of 2300 Chestnut Street. Technical.ly Philly reporter Juliana Reyes stopped by to take a look at the new space and snap a few pictures.

The Exton based insurance software giant’s new office has a stunning open floor plan where long rows of desks are surrounded by exposed brick, wooden beams, and its large arched windows gives employees a glimpse of the Cira Centre. iPipeline’s CTO, Brian Seidman said that close to fifteen people, primarily engineers, will work out of the Center City space daily.

Out of the 450 employees of the company, that was recently acquired by a private equity firm, there are close to 200 that still work out of its Exton headquarters, , while the rest of the company’s staff is located in offices around the world, ranging from Salt Lake City to Tokyo.

The Philadelphia satellite office for the company was primarily envisioned by the outgoing president Paul Melchiorre, who championed the concept. The original small office that was located at 1818 Market represented a pilot project, an attempt to not miss out on the best students coming out of Drexel who did not want to commute to do their internships, said Seidman.

It was a good move, according to Seidman, as Draxel has proved to be a great resource for tech talent. In addition to being a good space for cultivating new talents, the Center City office is also ideally suited for customer meetings. The location, which has two conference rooms, is much more convenient for customers who otherwise would have to drive all the way to Exton from the airport.
