For those who enjoy the pleasures of a glass of quality wine and a good book, this month will be quite the treat. Throughout the month from Kennett Square to Chadds Ford and Oxford, eight out of the fifteen wineries along The Brandywine Artisan Wine Trail will host workshops and book signings, book clubs and blog how-to’s, as well as book sales with authors as part of the celebration of the “Art of Writing”, writes The Times of Chester County.

While all the events are free, it is best to show up early to get a good spot and enjoy the chance to spend the day getting to know the many talented authors and poets. Of course at every event there is also the chance to drink some good local wine, while enjoying Chester County’s wide variety of talent and creativity.

The first event will be held in the Flickerwood Winery‘s tasting room in Oxford, which will turn into an old fashioned “coffee house” on Friday, January 8, from 7 to 10pm. The evening will focus on younger talents in Oxford, encouraging them to share their original works with the winery’s guests.

Galer-Vineyard-SignGaler Estate Winery in Kennett Square will host a variety of events starting with accomplished local writer and motivational speaker, Donna Duffy on Sunday, January 10 from 3 to 5pm. It will also welcome several chocolate experts throughout the month including Estelle Tracey and Robert Campbell as well as the “Plein Air Writer’s Workshop” hosted by local writer Karen Myers. On the final Sunday in January, Schiffer Publishing house will be on hand to talk about their publishing business and how to submit ideas.

A monthly book club will see its inauguration at the Paradocx Vineyard on January 15, from 6

to 8pm at their winery location in Landenberg with “The Round House” by Louise Erdrich the first book on the schedule.

Other events include the Wilson Vineyard hosting “Art, Wine and Sunflowers” painting lessons lead by artist Sally Wilson on Saturday January 16 from 1 to 4pm, noted writer, Dave Emmi, talking about his latest book “Divine Philly” at Grace Winery on Saturday, January 23 at 3pm, Ten Gallon Hat Winery in Chadds Ford will host six local authors on Sunday January 24, from 1 to 3pm for a captivating discussion about the art of writing in Chester County and Penns Woods Winery will be stocking its shelves with the book “A Wine Tasting Course” by Marnie Old, the local author and sommelier.
