The Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) provides services to the 12 school districts in Chester County. This includes services to nearly 86,000 public and non-public school students and more than 6,000 educators. CCIU’s major services include special-education and compensatory-education programs; career, technical and customized education; mentor training and staff development; technology initiatives; consortia for school business operations; and curriculum services.

Three Special-Education Teachers

Vacancies for these positions exist within the Division of Student Services. They will be within the Child and Career Development Center, CCIU Learning Center, TCHS buildings and Cross-District classrooms. The teachers will instruct individuals and groups in special-education skill areas, and plan curriculum, lessons, and programs. He/she will evaluate and monitor student progress based on classroom performance, test scores, and observation of behavior. The teachers will also support objectives and interventions of the educational program, and maintain a safe physical environment for the students. They will maintain contact with parents of students and/or professionals concerning student progress, and develop IEPs addressing specific academic, behavioral, and speech needs of students.

These candidates must possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in education and have experience working with special-education students, including autism, multiple disabilities, emotional disturbance, and learning disabilities. They will be PDE certified in special education. Special preference will be given to those dually certified or highly qualified in elementary or secondary areas with ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies.

Three Part-Time Instructional Assistants – Secondary Education

Vacancies for these positions exist within the Division of Student Services of the Chester County Intermediate Unit throughout the County. Locations may include the CDC, The Learning Center, and Cross-District. The person will be responsible for assisting and performing duties as directed by the classroom teacher/supervisor. He/she must have the ability to work independently and as a member of a team in an educational setting.

The candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED. Special preference will be given to those with an Associate’s Degree or higher. He/she must have experience with secondary students, and be able to obtain current police, child abuse, and FBI fingerprint clearances.
