Among the group of national officers recently elected by state delegates during the 149th Annual Session of the National Grange is Betsy Huber. This is a landmark for the organization as she is the first woman to hold the President position since its inception.

The Grange, which is a nonprofit, non-partisan, fraternal organization that advocates for rural America and agriculture, has played a huge role in Huber’s life, along with legislative work and agriculture. She was a member of the Board of Directors of the National Grange, which she also chaired from 2007 until last year, and is currently the executive secretary for the Pennsylvania Young Farmers Association.

Currently employed as the Government Relations Director by the Pennsylvania State Grange, Hubert already works tirelessly on promoting and advancing policies relating to the Grange within the PA State Legislature. In addition to that, she is a member of both Chester-Delaware County Pomona Grange #3 and Goshen Grange #121.

In her new duties as the National Grange President, she will take her work a higher level by working with her staff to promote Grange policies in Washington D.C. Huber will also be responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of the organization.

Huber began showing interest in the Grange from a young age when she became a member of the Junior Grange, which at that time, was known as the Juvenile Grange. Since then she has held various positions in both her local Grange and the Pennsylvania State Grange, including her eight years as President where she became first woman to hold that position as well.

Her experience in the agricultural community includes positions on the boards of the PA State Council of Farm Organizations, where she was President for two years, the Governor’s Census 2010 Advisory Panel, the PA Department of Agriculture Fertilizer Advisory Committee, PA Farm Link, and the PA Department of Environmental Protection Ag Advisory Board which she chaired in 2007.

Her prolific professional life is further enriched by her service in the community which among many other things, includes Treasurer of the Chester County Association of Township Officials as well as being a member of the PSATS Land Use Committee and Resolutions Committee.
