JPMorgan Chase has awarded a $100,000 grant to the Delaware County Community College to help the college continue its work in providing the best possible training for people seeking working with local manufacturers.

Approximately 20 students will be involved in the three days a week training programs, while the other two days are spent at local manufacturers putting their newly learned skills into use doing paid work experience.

The DCCC’s leadership role in a manufacturing alliance in Delaware and Chester Counties will help secure the participation of companies that are looking to enlarge their workforce, with all trainees eligible for permanent employment after successful completion of the program.

“JPMorgan Chase is committed to investing in the communities we serve,” said Mark Schrieber, Chase’s Grant Executive Director and Head of the Greater Philadelphia Middle Market Commercial Bank.

Aclaris Therapeutics Goes Public in a $55 Million IPO

Malvern based Aclaris Therapeutics managed to raise $55 million through its initial public offering on Wednesday becoming the fifth life sciences company to go public in the region this year.

Aclaris, the specialty pharmaceutical company, sold 5 million shares at $11 per share, significantly under the expected range of $14 to $16 that the company had listed in its filing with the SEC. However, $55 million may not be the final total, as it could still go up to $63.25 million if the underwriters exercise their 30-day option to purchase up to 750,000 additional shares to cover overallotments.

Proceeds from the IPO will be used to fund the late-stage testing of A-101, Aclaris’ lead drug candidate. If the results from phase-III clinical tests on its experimental treatment for the common, non-malignant skin tumor, known as seborrheic keratosis, are successful the company will seek FDA approval in the second half of 2016.
