download (22)

Newly authorized “Honoring Our Veterans” special fund registration plates will allow Pennsylvania motorcyclists to show their support for veterans.

Made in the usual blue, white and yellow color scheme, the plates also include an image of the American Flag and a Bald Eagle with the words “Honoring Our Veterans” at the bottom of the plate. The plate is available for anyone interested in showing their support for $35 with $15 of that going directly to the Veterans’ Trust Fund.

“By adding these new motorcycle plates to our extensive registration-plate options, we now give motorcycle enthusiasts the opportunity to support Pennsylvania’s veterans and donate to a worthy cause,” said PennDOT Secretary Leslie S. Richards. “You don’t need to be a veteran to get one of these plates.”

Anyone interested in applying for a plate needs to complete the Form MV-914, “Application for Honoring Our Veterans Special Fund Registration Plate,” at vwww.dmv.pa.gov.

“Coatesville Century” Celebrates Coatesville’s Centennial Year

The Coatesville Historical Commission held a reception on Sunday to mark the opening of the “Uncommon Modern” photo exhibit, one of the several exhibits on display as part of the “Coatesville Century” display housed at Lincoln University’s campus in the city.

Honoring the cities one hundred years, the Coatesville Century exhibit includes everyday items that mark different time periods over the last century. Also on display at the school is the “100 Years of Fashion” exhibit that displays how people’s everyday dress has evolved from 1915 to today.

“Uncommon Modern” is a collection of photographic portraits of midcentury vernacular architecture in the Greater Philadelphia area taken by Philadelphia-based photographer Betsy Manning. Describing one of the pictures showing the Lipking building, Manning said that what got her to get out of the car and take the picture was that she “thought it was a great example of the architecture that I love.”
