Chester County Datebook – September 14th

September 14th is the 257th day of the year leaving 108 days remaining until the end of the year. After witnessing the bombardment of Fort McHenry in the Baltimor Harbor in the War of 1812, the lawyer and amateur poet Francis Scott Key, wrote Defence of Fort McHenry on this date.  The poem would become the lyrics of the Star Spangled Banner.

The Chester County Economic Development Council has their annual Golf Classic at French Creek Golf Club in Elverson.  Registrations begins at 11:00 AM with a shotgun start scheduled for noon.

On Tuesday, September 15th, Downingtown – Thorndale Regional Chamber of Commerce hosts their Monthly Networking Breakfast at the Green Street Grill from 7:30 to 9:00 AM.
