Chatty Monks Brewing Company to Open a Second Brewpub in Phoenixville
Phoenixville cannot get enough of good beer, as Chatty Monks Brewing Company‘s success is showing. The West Reading craft brewery is already preparing to open another location in Phoenixville, a little over a year after first opening its doors in Reading.
Chatty Monks will be moving into the 13,000 square foot space previously occupied by the Superior Beverage Company at 701 Wheatland St.
“The meteoric growth we’ve experienced has been truly incredible. We’re thrilled about the new location and cannot wait to open the doors and share the space with our customers,” stated Brian Reedy, one of Chatty Monk’s five co-owners. “There are many brewpubs that exist successfully in large warehouses. We, however, want to create a unique and inviting environment to take the brewpub experience to a new level.”
The new location is expected to open early next year and is over twice the size of its current one with around 250 seats. In addition to the extra of seating, the new space will also allow the owners to brew more beer, not only for the pub, but also for distribution and events.
As explained by Norm Eaton, co-owner and master brewer, “the new brewery will have a 15-barrel system with 15 and 30 barrel fermenting tanks.”
Another challenge for the co-owners of the Chatty Monks is the Great American Beer Festival, which will be taking place from September 24 – 26. The team will be entering four brews into one of the largest national beer competitions and festivals in the U.S., including two IPAs, a stout, and an ale.
“Competing on a national level is a thrilling opportunity,” said co-owner Joe Ellis. “We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve done, and we can’t wait to for a larger audience to get a taste of what Chatty Monks is about, particularly our Endoplasmic Reticulum IPA!.”
