Coatesville School Board Selects Quality Over Price For $900K New Roof
An extra $54,000 seemed a mere drop in the bucket for members of the Coatesville Area School Board when it came to replacing a leaking elementary school roof.
The board unanimously opted for the more durable and longer-lasting tri-polymer alloy polyvinyl chloride (TPA PVC) roofing material while approving the $898,200 roof replacement project for Reeceville Elementary School, according to a Daily Local News report.
The TPA PVC is more resistant to damaging ultraviolet rays from the sun than the next-best option, thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO), consultant Jeff Chambers of Chambers Associates said in the article. “If you’re looking at cost, I would go with the TPO; if you’re looking at quality, long-term, I would go with the TPA PVC.”
The project will be paid for from the district’s dedicated construction fund and is expected to be finished by Nov. 1.
