Chadds Ford Tech Company DecisionSim Helps Veteran Affairs Get Its Game On

Veteran Affairs is working with the Chester County Tech Company DecisionSim to create an effective training platform.

A Chadds Ford business is having a blast at the controls of a real-world simulation that’s helping improve the lives of 9.1 million veterans.

Pulling elements of adult learning and gaming together into “the only simulation-based learning platform using a real-world, data-driven, virtual experience to improve learners’ knowledge and application of diagnostic, procedural and communication skills that impact clinical decision-making,” DecisionSim has advanced to new levels with the Department of Veterans Affairs.

More than 35,000 VA players have tested their medical skills with DecisionSim since it inked a 2012 contract with the VA, and the total could become a $10 million deal for DecisionSim if the partnership lasts all five years.

“We believe the platform’s demonstrated success at the VA will translate to a variety of clinical settings, helping organizations improve patient outcomes in a continually evolving and complex healthcare system,” CEO Bob Yayac said.

Through the VA’s Employee Education System, DecisionSim has put staff members into challenging situations in research, women’s health, palliative care, residency training, nurse education, staff training and more.
