Covered Bridge: Lifestyle Edition

It’s not what you’re like, it’s what you like that defines you. Or something like that. Today’s Covered Bridge features content from around the web that will help you live with style. Maybe.

The Walstreet Journal published a fun interactive feature today that promises to match you with your signature architecture style.  Are you a Victorian Manse kind of person or a Frank Lloyd Wright prairie home connoisseur? As far as internet quizes go, this one is unusually tasteful, asking some philosophical-ish questions of participants. And for me, at least, the result was spot on:

A Mid-Century Modern Retreat–Via Drew Kelly for WSJ

Congratulations! Your dream home is a Mid-Century Modern Retreat. You’re not afraid to be distinctive, so long as you stay stylish. Your house embraces clean lines, hard angles, a low-slung silhouette and an aesthetic that’s both classic and cutting edge.

That’s probably the nicest thing the Wall Street Journal has printed about someone who didn’t make over six figures. Thanks WSJ! You can find your distinctive domi-style here.

Before you build that modernist dream home on the coast, you’ll most likely be getting married. And weddings are ridiculously expensive. Unfortunately for Chester County residents, that big dream wedding in Philadelphia ranks, on average, as the third most expensive city in which to tie the knot.

Average Wedding Cost By City

  • 1. Manhattan $76,328
  • 2. Chicago $50,934
  • 3. Philadelphia $44,090
  • 4. Rhode Island $41,941
  • 5. San Francisco $39,690

No surprise that Manhattan, Chicago, and San Francisco also topped the list–but Rhode Island? Come on. Get it together. These numbers include the typical wedding expenditures: flowers, wedding and reception venues, etc. Check out the cool video the WSJ put together on the data below.

Covered BridgeFinally, there’s a new way to spend money with style and it’s not Apple Pay. Virgin announced this morning that they will offer special edition credit cards featuring artwork from seminal punk band Sex Pistols. Not your cup of tea? Consider it the perfect opportunity to teach your rebellious teenager about building responsible credit.

Anarchy in the U.K., indeed.
