Behind the camera and far from the glitz and glamor of selling the hottest new home shopping trends, QVC is concerned about creating another kind of green: better air quality.
The West Chester TV network recieved an Air Quality Excellence Award from the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission — just in time for Earth Day.

“Businesses, nonprofits, local governments and individuals all play important roles in reducing air pollution by cutting waste, conserving energy and making wise transportation choices,” DVRPC Executive Director Barry Seymour said in a Daily Local News report. “Cooperation between people and organizations that care about the air we breathe presents our greatest opportunity to ensure cleaner air for our region.”
In particular, QVC switched light fixtures to high-efficiency LEDs both within its buildings on campus and in its parking lots, cut down on wasted light and heat in unused areas through new energy management technologies, boosted carpooling with an organized Ride-Share program and encouraged public transit by shuttling employees to train stations in Exton and Paoli.
QVC shared the award with two public partners.
“As we start the ozone season, it becomes even more important to recognize how initiatives such as those taken by QVC, Montgomery County Community College, and Camden County Municipal Utilities Authority contribute to our region’s health,” Seymour said in the article.
