The 15th Annual Girls Exploring Tomorrow’s Technology. (GETT) conference held in Malvern, PA, on March 21, 2015, was a great success this year attracting its biggest attendance to date with more than 530 students attending.

The conference focused on Science, Technology, Engineering Art and Math (STEAM) presented by female role models, attracted visitors and participants from 101 different schools in nearby counties.

“I was absolutely blown away by the crowd, the energy, the quality of the expo, and the entire event,” said Michael Girgalonis, Chief Operating Officer. The event featured a range of short activities such as operating robots, building rockets and creating polymer putty.

The idea was to expose young girls to technical career paths to ensure a strong technical talent pool. In addition to the hands-on activities there were also grade level STEM sessions that taught diverse skills such as extracting DNA and exploring brain signals. The day also included presentations aimed at the 184 parents and educators who attended.

GETT is an initiative of the Innovative Technology Action Group (ITAG) fostered by the Chester County Economic Development Council.
