A good Friday morning here at Covered Bridge as we anticipate the upcoming holiday. Whether you’re celebrating Easter, Passover or just relaxing this Sunday, we wish you more than the best, and we invite you to take a break from the festivities with some of the best writing from around the web. Shalom.

  • The Great Cocaine Treasure Hunt“, by Dan Riley, from GQ.
    • A story from GQ on the tall tale that set one Florida real estate developer on an errant path. How often do bundles of Colombian gold wash ashore? More often than you’d think.

  • “The Prehistory of the Peeps Diorama“, by Sarah Archer, from The New Yorker
    • We had to suggest something seasonal. Sarah Archer examines the bizarre world of Peeps Dioramas. To us, it seems better than having to eat them.

  • “‘Mad Men’and Its Love Affair With ’60’s Pop Culture”“, by Gilbert Cruz, DAVE Itzkoff and Kathryn Shattuck, from the New York Times.
    • The final episodes begin this Sunday for AMC’s run away hit drama ‘Mad Men’. The New York Times has created a feature comparing the show’s historic touchstones with their original coverage of the events. Comments from the show’s writer and creator Mathew Weiner make this a great read for fans of the show and those interested in how history conspires easily with fiction.

As always, please feel free to comment with responses to the Covered Bridge stories or suggestions of your own.
