Covered Bridge: Pulitzer Winners, Adderall In the Workplace, and Twitter Moves Against Threats

Winners of the 99th Pulitzer Prizes for journalism, writing and the other arts were announced yesterday at 3pm. You can find a full list of the winners here. Notably, the New York Times picked up three for their ebola coverage last year. The Pulitzer for best fiction writing was awarded to Anthony Doerr for his “All The Light We Cannot See”, a novel ten years in the writing. Last year, Donna Tartt’s hugely popular “The Goldfinch” won the coveted prize. The Pulitzer Prizes are awarded annually by the Columbia School of Journalism.

The Times has also published an expose of sorts on the use of prescription amphetamines to boost worker productivity in the United States. White collar workers pressed by deadlines and well equipped with disposable income are reportedly turning to drug dealers to get access to ADHD medications like Adderall, Concerta, and Vyvanse. Finally, in an usual step, Twitter announced they are tightening speech restrictions on their massive messaging platform. Accounts promoting violence, such as those used by the so-called Islamic State, will now be subject to censure and removal. Read the article here.
