Star Roses and Plants Wins National Awards

By

More than a dozen roses bred by West Grove’s Star Roses and Plants have recently bloomed into national award winners, according to a Perishable News report.

From the century-old mail order-turned-genetics company’s acclaimed Drift Roses to shrub roses, the flowers took home accolades for best fragrance, heat and humidity resistance, best groundcover rose, best hybrid tea and best floribunda, among other regional honors and quality awards.

“Only a limited number of roses perform well nationally,” Vice President of License and New Business Development Jacques Ferare said in the article. “Roses are best categorized by region, meaning that some varieties perform better in one area of the country over others. Conducting national trials allows us to determine the regional performance of each rose.”

Star Roses and Plants competed at world-class trials hosted by American Garden Rose Selections, Louisiana State University, the University of Georgia, The Rose Hills International Rose Awards and The Biltmore International Rose Trials.
