Chester County native Mary Alice Malone is gaining international admiration for her Malone Souliers line of colorful and dramatic high-end shoes.

The Wall Street Journal reports designers including Malone, Versace and Alexander Wang are showing for spring outlandish, whimsical shoes with architectural heels.

Malone, a Unionville native and a former member of the Junior Olympic Equestrian Team, tried several crafts prior to turning her artistic eye to shoes and learning her craft at Cordwainers at the London College of Fashion.

Malone Souliers (the old French word for shoe, pronounced “soo lyay”) are sold at Saks Fifth Avenue and Bergdorf Goodman, and are also made to measure.
