New Sixties Exhibit Will Open At Historical Society
The Sixties! Winds of Change, is a new exhibit set to open at the Chester County Historical Society on Feb. 21 thanks to a gift from Wilmington Trust and M&T Bank.
The first phase of the exhibit is titled “1960s Pop Culture: Movies, Memorabilia and The Media, The Steve and Michell Friedman Collection.” Part II of the exhibit, “The ‘60s! Winds of Change,” will open Nov. 7.
The Sixties! will explore the eventful decade using a chronological framework extending from 1954 to 1974. Subjects will include pop culture, civil rights and Vietnam.
Rob Lukens, CCHS president, said the exhibition should offer visitors a powerful and meaningful experience.
“Both Wilmington Trust and M&T Bank have been serving clients for more than a century, so we have a profound respect for history,” said Matthew Panarese, Wilmington Trust market manager. “We’re very excited to support the Chester County Historical Society with its new exhibition. The 1960s was a pivotal decade for the United States. It’s important to both remember and celebrate our shared history during that time of change.”
“We are proud to partner with the historical society on this important exhibit and support their continuing mission of honoring our ancestors, as well as educating generations past, present, and future,” said Kristen Ladow, group manager of commercial banking for M&T Bank.
