Genesis HealthCare, Inc. Cuts Costs, Staff Following Fourth-Quarter Shortfall

Genesis HealthCare, Inc. in Kennett Square is reducing staff hours, eliminating more than 300 full-time-equivalent jobs, and modifying employee benefits following a disappointing fourth-quarter performance, Harold Brubaker of Philly.com is reporting.

Genesis has cut $30 million to $40 million in costs. Two percent of the reductions affect workers in Kennett Square, but the recent merger with Skilled HealthCare Group should result in a gain of 60 to 80 jobs there.
