West Chester School District Seeks Board Candidates, Legislative Committee Volunteers
The West Chester Area School District is reaching out to citizens interested in running for the school board in the May 2015 primary election, and to those who would like to serve as volunteers on the district’s Legislative Action Committee.
“School Board 101” will begin at 7 p.m. in the district’s Spellman Administration Building on Thursday, Jan. 22. Information about board member candidacy, roles and responsibilities and the ballot and election process will be offered by Superintendent Jim Scanlon, Janet McNally of the Pennsylvania School Boards Association, and Jim Forsythe, director of Chester County Voter Services.
Those interested should contact Linda Wesley, 484-266-1018 or email before Wednesday, Jan. 21.
The volunteer Legislative Action Committee will hold its first meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, also at Spellman Administration Building, 829 Paoli Pike, West Chester.
The committee will work on providing legislators with input on legislation that has financial impact on schools, and educate legislators and the community about the cost of current mandates.
To volunteer, contact Scanlon’s office at 484-266-1018, or email jscanlon@wcasd.net.
