The Colonial Theatre in Phoenixville Showing “Blade Runner” Tonight

By

The historic Colonial Theatre will be screening the Harrison Ford, Ridley Scott (Gladiator, Alien) sci-fi film Blade Runner this evening in Phoenixville. Based on Philip K. Dick’s “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?” the cult film turned genre-classic presented futuristic visions of earth life with old-school film noir style story telling. blade_runner-246x370

From The New York Times:

What’s hypnotic about the film is its seamless portrait of the future, a sleek retro Deco glossed on neon-laced decay: overcrowded cities roamed by hustlers, strugglers and street gangs mumbling a multicultural argot, the sky lit by giant corporate logos and video billboards hyping exotic getaways on other planets, where most English-speaking white people seem to have fled.

Cinephiles will be pleased to know The Colonial is screening the Thirtieth Anniversary Director’s Cut. Catch the trailer above. The event is sponsored by Shorty’s Sunflower Cafe in Pottstown. Tickets may be purchased directly from the Colonial Theatre website or at the box office. The movie starts at 10:00pm.
