What will be the first establishment in Chester County to deliver a six-pack?

That’s right, the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board has issued an advisory opinion saying restaurants, grocery stores, pizza and sub shops may now deliver up to two six-packs of beer.

Philly.com has reported on the new rule, which carries some restrictions. Customers, for example, must pay by credit card over the phone.

Local businesses selling beer that want to hop onto this new opportunity may apply for a “transporter-for-hire” license, which costs about $1,000. License holders may transport up to 192 ounces – or just over two six-packs – of beer.

The full story is here.

Joe Sixpack of the Philadelphia Daily News, one of the nation’s leading beer reporter, has not issued an opinion about the PLCB ruling. However, he has named Yuengling Summer Wheat his pick for 2014 Beer of the Year.  Yuengling is headquartered in Pottsville.
