An entrepreneurial businessman and 35-year veteran of the banking industry recently brought the Philadelphia area’s top banker award home to Malvern.

Meridian Bank Chairman and CEO Christopher J. Annas received SmartCEO magazine’s 2014 Philadelphia Power Players Banker of the Year honor for his enterprising leadership, accomplishment, innovation and success, according to the publication’s profile of the winner.

“A deep understanding of and affinity for entrepreneurship, coupled with a personalized and consultative approach, has driven Christopher J. Annas’ success with commercial lending,” SmartCEO wrote in the profile. “He aims to be not just a lender but a trusted advisor, providing support and a strong partnership.”

Before starting Meridian Bank, Annas noted once having the Philadelphia Eagles as a client.

“Everyone has a chance to achieve their dreams,” he said in the article.
