CCIU Helps Downingtown Library Prepare For Move
Chester County Intermediate Unit is putting out a call to help move Downingtown’s Free Library at 330 East Lancaster Avenue, a location the library has called home since 1914, to its new location in the Micken Building at 122 Wallace Avenue, a ten minute walk to the other side of Route 30.
The Thorndale-Downingtown Rotary Club is planning and coordinating the move, which is expected to happen during the week between Christmas and New Years.
The service club is putting out a call for assistance.
Local contractors are being organized to move furniture. A boy scout from the Presbyterian Church troop is coordinating the boxing up of books for his Eagle Scout project. Families are being recruited to move boxes of books in little red wagons to from the old building to the new location.
