Transit Systems, Inc. of Wayne has gained notice from the national magazine Inc., which has named it to the Inc. 5000 list of fastest growing privately held companies.

The firm, located at 999 Old Eagle School Rd., Suite 114, Wayne, is a nationwide moving and shipping business.

Transit Systems says it’s growing rapidly to keep up with increased demand.  The U.S. Census Bureau reported over 35.9 million people moved between 2012 and 2013, and that figure is expected to increase in the coming years.

“We are thrilled to have experienced tremendous growth over the last few years and we expect even more exciting things going forward.” said Christopher Smith, the company’s CEO.

Transit Systems says it aims to delight its customers and will handle loads too large for UPS and FedEx but too small for large transport trucks. Smith says there is a growing market for small load shipping.

“People want to move just a mattress, or a small apartment worth of things,” he said. “Or they want to ship their great grandmother’s china cabinet to a cousin across the country. We help move belongings wherever they are needed.”

The company also has “A” and four-star ratings on Angie’s List and Yelp.  Transit Systems has been in business for more than 24 years.

Transit Systems is number 4990 on Inc.’s list.  Inc. reports the company has 18 employees, grew 43 percent over the past few years and had revenue of $5.9 million in 2013.   You can find the Inc profile here .
